Scope of Work
Graham Ryan Consulting Ltd. specializes in motor vehicle accident reconstruction. This typically entails the physical inspection of the damaged vehicles, the examination of the accident scene, and reconstruction of collision events using engineering calculations based primarily on momentum, energy, and restitution equations.
The vehicles may include passenger cars, light trucks, commercial vehicles, bicycles, and motorcycles. Information on the 3 phases of an accident — pre-crash, crash, and post-crash — is compiled to best determine how the accident happened. Issues that we investigate include:
- Electronic data downloads
- Event Data Recorder (EDR)
- Heavy Truck Engine Control Module (ECM) data
- Infotainment / telematics system data (i.e. Berla iVe)
- Vehicle Control History (VCH) from Toyota / Lexus vehicles
- Vehicle speeds
- Point of Impact (POI)
- Pedestrian collisions
- Motorcycle collisions
- Bicycle collisions
- Perception-Response Time (PRT) analysis
- Seat belt use
- Impact severity (delta-V)
- Driver actions
- Accident causal factors
- Accident avoidance
- Line of sight / visibility problems
- Mechanical defects
- Lamp status (on/off at impact)
